Setting up a VLAN on cisco packet tracer (student)

 What we did

We first set up the network, adding 1 router, 1 switch and 4 clients. We then assigned the IP address, subnet mask, and the default gateway.

On the switch, we must go to config and assign a VLAN, I started on the right giving it the number 20 and named it HR, the 20 matches the 3rd number on the default gateway. Then go into interface on config and press on the interface that matches the number above the switch. On the place where it says Access, press on it and change it to trunk. Then go onto the interfaces of the one that is on the right to start with. Change the VLAN to the one that is 20 and make sure that none of the other ones are on.

Mistakes made

  • Make sure that the interface that you are entering matches the number that is closest to the switch.
